Healthy Families
Healthy Families of Starke County is a no-cost home visiting program that gives
eligible families the opportunity to get off to a right start in
the care and well-being of their newborn...and their households, in general.
In the area of childcare, a Family Support Worker is assigned especially to your
family and provides helpful information, guidance, and assistance in an array
of ways from monitoring your babys growth and development to
checking immunizations, teaching parenting skills, and assisting families in
setting and reaching goals when it comes to raising happy, healthy children.
Education classes, such as CPR, household budgeting, and first aid, are held on
a monthly basis. A weekly support group gives parents the opportunity to share
parenting experience and information with their peers.
Families can participate in the Healthy Families program for up to five years,
after which your Family Support Worker helps transition your child into a
school routine and educates parents on the importance of continued
participation in their childs home and school life.
